The arts, leisure, entertainment and hospitality sectors are being invited to take part in a consultation on new rules that the Department for Culture, Media and Sport hopes will slash the red tape involved in applying for licences.
It estimates that, during the first ten years of the new system, applications, plans and hearings should be slashed from around 17 million to around 2 million, including a cut in licensing hearings from 2.4 million to just 40,000. A separate consultation on fees associated with licences is expected next month.
