Music and the Deaf, a charity which aims to improve access to music for deaf people, has developed a fully adapted approach to the music national curriculum to help teachers to include deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in music lessons.
A new guide, Unlocking the National Curriculum: Keys to Music with Deaf Children, provides ideas and support for teachers to tackle the exclusion of deaf children from music education and to encourage deaf and hearing-impaired children to study music at GCSE. It includes a wide range of lesson plans, worksheets and case studies. t: 01484 483117 (minicom); e: nationalcurriculum@matd.org.uk
