Lowestoft?s 700-seat Marina Theatre (pictured), is to host a three-year residency of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), in a move aimed at supporting a sustained programme of high quality arts at the venue.

Previously better known for delivering a broad programme of film and entertainment, the 100-year old Marina Theatre has for two years been working with touring opera, theatre and ballet companies to develop an arts audience in the region, a period during which the number of bookers at the venue has increased three-fold. As part of the residency, the RPO will be bringing international conductors and soloists to Lowestoft, as well as its education team which will be building links with local schools, orchestras and choral societies.
