The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) will be selling £5 tickets to young people for all 150 performances in its forthcoming London season at the Albery Theatre from November 2004 to May 2005. The new ticket deal marks the first extended season for the RSC in the capital since it left the Barbican in April 2002.
All four main house productions from the Stratford Festival Season of Shakespearean Tragedies will transfer to the Albery in a deal struck with the Ambassador Theatre Group which owns and manages the venue. A season of new plays will transfer to the Soho Theatre in March 2005. Launching the London season, RSC Chairman Sir Christopher Bland also confirmed that plans were being finalised for the redevelopment of the company?s base in Stratford upon Avon, with an announcement expected this autumn. Demolition of the Grade II listed Memorial Theatre, he said, had been ruled out as a ?categorical no?.
