The Scottish Arts Council and British Council Scotland have announced the appointment of Norah Campbell, formerly Director of the An Tuireann Arts Centre, as their new Head of International Arts. She will be responsible for developing a strategy for promoting Scotland?s arts abroad.

Nicolas Young, currently Chief Executive of Theatre Royal Winchester, has been recruited to lead the new Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre in Newport, South Wales. He will take up this role in October.

Michael Grandage is to step down as Associate Director of Sheffield Theatres, but will continue his involvement with the organisation by accepting a seat on its Board of Trustees.

Deirdre Robb has been appointed as Arts Development Officer with Belfast City Council?s Culture and Arts Unit, and Marie Craig (pictured) will be joining as Projects Assistant to administer the Council?s Culture and Arts Funding initiatives.

Juan Wright has taken over from Richard Patterson as Manager of the Erin Arts Centre on the Isle of Man.

The Royal College of Music has announced the appointment of Professor Colin Lawson (pictured), currently Dean of the London College of Music & Media, as its next Director. He will succeed Dame Janet Ritterman.

Nikki Christie is joining Camden Arts and Business Consortium as Project Manager. She was formerly Development Officer at Three Mills Island in East London.

The new Marketing Manager at the recently refurbished Broadway Theatre, Barking, will be Howard Buckley, who has left Millfield Theatre & Arts Centre.

Mary Cloake, who first joined Ireland?s Arts Council in 1993, has been appointed as its new Director. She replaces Patricia Quinn who resigned earlier this year.

Julie Ellen, formerly General Manager of Suspect Culture theatre company, has been appointed as Creative Director of the new Playwrights? Studio, Scotland. Caroline Newall, formerly of Theatre Cryptic, has been appointed as General Manager and Liz Lochhead, David Greig and Nicola McCartney are Associate Playwrights.

The Academy of Ancient Music has appointed Rosamond Criddle as Administrator.

The new Director of External Affairs for Arts Council England?s Creative Partnerships programme is Colin Beesting. He was formerly Communications Manager for the Arts Council?s decibel programme.

Thomas Wildish, formerly Campaigns Officer at Nottingham Playhouse, is Derby Dance Centre?s new Marketing & Development Manager. Peter Knott, who was previously Finance Manager at Derby Playhouse, has been appointed Finance & Administration Manager.

Katie Paterson has joined the Tolbooth, Stirling as Marketing Assistant.

Alice Corser is joining Ex Cathedra Choir & Baroque Orchestra as Administration Assistant.
