The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has launched an enquiry into the activities of ticket agents following complaints about excessive booking fees and allegations of improper relationships with event organisers.
The investigation of the £100m a year industry will focus on price transparency for consumers and the arrangements that exist between event organisers and agents who sell tickets for entertainment and sporting events. Having heard from industry and consumer bodies, the OFT will decide whether existing consumer protection regulations are sufficient or whether fresh legislation is required.
