The Arts Council of Ireland has launched a selective consultation process to find a replacement for its axed Arts Plan 2002-2006. A number of key arts organisations and individuals have been contacted for their views before a more open process is initiated.
The scrapping of the Arts Plan led to the resignation of the widely respected Director of the Arts Council, Patricia Quinn, earlier this year (ArtsProfessional issue 70, March 22, p3). The Council hopes to have a new strategy in place by May 2005.
