The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), formerly known as Re:source, has completed its development of regional agencies across England to promote and lobby on behalf of the sector.
Acting as independent bodies, the agencies will receive core funding from MLA totalling £8.5m. The process of establishing a foothold in each English region began in 2001 with the opening of an office in the North East; the last of nine regional offices opened in London at the beginning of this month. Mark Wood, Chair of MLA said: ?MLA?s regional policy means that museums, libraries and archives are well positioned to play a major role in the government?s developing regional agenda.?
