Turner prize-winning artist, Antony Gormley, has donated an original artwork estimated to be worth £10,000 to dance promoter Dance Umbrella. Gormley, a long-term supporter of the company, has donated Territory, (pictured) an original work from 1995, in order to raise funds to commission a new dance piece by Merce Cunningham.

Val Bourne, Artistic Director of Dance Umbrella said, ?We are immensely grateful to Antony Gormley for his generosity and hope that the public will help us by bidding for this outstanding work?. During November 2003, Dance Umbrella presented the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern for a week of events to celebrate Dance Umbrella?s 25th anniversary. The auction is now underway online at http://www.danceumbrella.co.uk
