News – Boost for youth arts in Northern Ireland
A new £1.5m scheme to increase access to the arts for children and young people in Northern Ireland will be launched in May. The Creative Youth Partnerships scheme will subsidise the cost to schools and youth organisations of booking arts activity by up to 66 per cent.
Designed to establish local and regional networks of arts practitioners, youth workers and teachers, the initiative is a collaboration between the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, the Department of Education and the Education and Library Boards. A website will go live later this month with details of arts organisations offering services through the scheme. Application forms and guidance will be available on the site and also through newly-appointed Development Officers in five action zones. w: http://www.cypni.org
