Following a decision by the governing Council of the Arts Council of Ireland to set aside its five year strategy, Director Patricia Quinn, who was the principal architect of the Arts Plan 2002-2006, has resigned.
The Council took the decision to abandon the Plan because of ?vastly changed financial circumstances? caused by a shortfall in government funding. In her letter of resignation Quinn claimed ?The Council?s precipitate action overturns Government policy and is contrary to the considered advice of its executive. I am in honour obliged to give notice of my decision to resign my position as Director.?
