The former staff of National Youth Music Theatre, whose Board of Directors shut its offices and made all staff redundant in September this year (ArtsProfessional issue 60, October 6), have established a new company through which to continue providing opportunities in music theatre for young people.

Youth Music Theatre:UK (YMT:UK) has been set up to pursue a wide range of projects including targeted outreach work, open access workshops, regional productions and creative workshops for the development of new work and new commissions. All administration and strategic development is currently being volunteered by former office and artistic staff, whose supporters have enabled them to move into offices in London’s Piccadilly. The new company has presented its first fundraising performance, a showcase reading of ‘Goblin Market’, and all box office income and donations will be used to get the new company established whilst sponsors and sustainable long-term funding are sought. Arts organisations able to assist by donating spare resources are invited to contact the company,
