Co-production deals are under the microscope in a new review launched by the Department of Culture Media and Sport and the UK Film Council.
The aim of the review is to examine the circumstances under which films, especially co-productions can be identified as British and thus eligible for tax breaks. Over the past ten years there has been a tenfold rise in the number of British co-productions. Suspicions have arisen that some productions exaggerate the British element of a co-production in order to qualify for tax relief.
