News – Cultural cities convene

Some of the twelve cities originally considered for European Capital of Culture 2008 met recently to consider ways of resurrecting some of their original proposals.
When Liverpool was anointed Capital of Culture 2008 in July, Culture Minister, Tessa Jowell, announced her intention that the shortlisted cities and the other challengers would be supported in pursuing some of their proposed activities. Belfast played host to six representatives from the contending cities who were joined by John Kennedy, Director of Cork’s activities as European Capital of Culture for 2005.
