The Phone Room has been named ?European Call Centre of the Year? at the European Call Centre Awards for 2003. The company, which specialises in work for arts and wider not-for-profit sector, was particularly complimented by the team of judges for calibre of its call-centre staff.
The Urban Hinterland, a conference about urban landscapes, will take place at the Southampton Institute on November 19. A publication written to provoke discussion and debate about Belfast ?s cultural landscape has been launched. The book, ?Re-imagining Belfast: a manifesto for the arts? includes the widely differing perspectives of twelve contributors including Tom Collins, former chair of Imagine Belfast 2008, Jo Egan, co-chair of the Community Arts Forum and Anne McReynolds, Director of the Old Museum Arts Centre.
South West Arts Marketing has published two new research reports, one based on a Visual Arts tourism initiative designed to encourage arts attenders in Bristol and Birmingham to visit galleries in the other city, and the other based on audience development initiatives for dance in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. w: http://www.swam.org.uk

Arts Council England North West is inviting nominations for a new £10,000 award for individual artists, local authorities, schools or arts organisations who are viewed by their peers as having made a major contribution to the arts in the North West over the past eighteen months. The winner of the ?art04? award will be announced in February at Manchester Art Gallery.

A new theatre production company has been established by Brighton & Hove Council and Arts Council England with the aim of enhancing and expanding theatre production in Brighton. Made in Brighton Ltd, which is run by Robert Cogo-Fawcett, Mark Rubinstein and Jon Linstrum, will produce and co-produce theatre as well as commissioning new work and offering training opportunities.
