News – Report sounds out the music industry

The training needs of the music industry are highlighted in a new research report by the National Music Council.
The report will inform the industry?s future thinking with regard to professional education and training, as well as provide an evidence base for a new Creative and Cultural Industries grouping in its bid for Sector Skills Council status (SSC). The report, ?Sounding out the Future?, also maps key skills, and summarises views as to the type and shape of SSC that will best meet the needs of the music industry and its sub-sectors. The next stage will be the creation of a Workforce Development Plan for the music industry, to be completed by March next year.
