Alan Davey, currently Head of Arts Division at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, has been appointed as its new Director of Arts and Culture. He was responsible for the Bill which established the National Lottery and has been Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for National Heritage.

TAG Theatre Company has appointed Emily Gray as Artistic Director to replace James Brining who has recently been appointed Artistic Director of Dundee Rep Theatre. Emily joins TAG after four years as Associate Director of the Unicorn Theatre in London.

Clare Lewis, formerly Business Development Executive at The Guardian Weekly, has become General Manager at DanceXchange, the National Dance Agency based in Birmingham.

Nicholas Winter, Artistic Administrator at the European Opera Centre in Manchester, is leaving after six and a half years to spend the autumn working on projects with the Novosibirsk Opera House in Russia. He previously ran the Zima Concert Agency in St Petersburg.


The Belfast Festival at Queen?s has appointed Anthony McGrath (pictured) as Marketing Manager. He has been Marketing Officer with the Grand Opera House in Belfast for two years. Jennifer Harford has also joined the organisation as Development Manager.

Emily Wollacott has taken up the position of Theatre & Commercial Manager at Wakefield Theatres. She was previously Front of House Manager at the New Theatre, Oxford.

Kate Mitchell has joined the Unicorn development team as Individual Giving and Trusts Manager. Emma Simon has also joined the Unicorn as Head of Marketing.


Following 12 years as Director of Cambridge Corn Exchange and then re-opening Brighton Dome, Robert Sanderson (pictured) has launched the arts management consultancy Arts Portfolio. He is currently running the national campaign against increases in the Performing Right Society classical music tariff.

Lerato Dunn has been promoted and is now Acting Projects Manager of East London Dance. Polly Risbridger and Caroline Morgan have been appointed as Urban Moves Project Coordinator and Community Projects Coordinator respectively.

Film producer and industry advisor Hugo Heppell has been appointed Head of Production for the new regional screen agency, Screen Yorkshire.

Anna Mackmin has been appointed as a second Associate Director to work alongside Michael Grandage at Sheffield Theatres, with a specific remit to develop the Studio Theatre. She is currently one of the organisation?s two Literary Associates.

Following 8 years at Zap Productions and 4 years as Project Producer of the Streets of Brighton, Donna Close has taken up the position of Arts Development Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council.

Essex Dance has appointed Chris Fayers as its new dance.tech Research Associate.
