Bursaries of up to £10,000 to help develop screenwriting in Scotland are being made available through a partnership between Scottish Arts Council, Scottish Screen and Scottish Enterprise. The bursaries will go to creative writers based in Scotland who want professional training to enable them to develop their careers in film, television or computer games. A new report about the role of the voluntary arts in addressing issues of social inclusion, has been published by the Voluntary Arts Network. Written by Annabel Jackson and entitled ?Doing it Ourselves: learning to challenge social exclusion through Voluntary Arts?, the publication tells the story of 14 arts projects. A one-day event will take place on July 11 to examine how, in the absence of big marketing budgets, cinemas can build a young audience for independent film. As part of is centenary celebration, The Art Fund has devised a competition giving entrants the opportunity to win a Canaletto painting to hang in their home for a day.
