News ? National Railway Museum seeks young volunteers
A poster campaign being run by the National Railway Museum (NRM) in York is aiming to challenge the traditional image of volunteering and recruit more young people as volunteers.
Designed to project a new youth-friendly image, the colour posters are being circulated to pubs, clubs, colleges and universities. One features an invitation to ?get down and dirty?, while another taps into text messaging culture with the slogan ?Ifu think trAns R ZzZz thnk x2?. NRM Volunteer Development Officer Kate Waddon said, ?Unfortunately, some people still think that you have to be mad about trains to appreciate what the NRM has to offer, but that it is just not the case. Some of our volunteers enjoy working with people, others enjoy getting their hands dirty with the locomotives, and many students find the work experience greatly improves their job prospects.?
