Tom Morris, Artistic Director of BAC since 1995, is to join the National Theatre as one of its two Associate Directors in January 2004.


Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust has appointed Gemma Bodinetz, formerly an Associate Director of Hampstead Theatre, as Artistic Director of the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse. Deborah Aydon (pictured), currently Executive Producer of Dublin?s Rough Magic Theatre Company, will also join the company as Executive Director in September.


After seven years at Metier, Duncan Sones (pictured) has announced his intention to stand down from the post of Chief Executive to work in a freelance capacity in education, training and regeneration projects.

Ian Bramley, Head of Publications at Laban and editor of Dance Theatre Journal, will leave Laban at the end of June to become Director of Dance UK. Funmi Adewole will also join Dance UK as Development Manager for the Association of Dance of the African Diaspora.

Sadler?s Wells has announced the appointment of Claire Hyde as Head of Corporate Affairs. Most recently she led the PR team at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and previously spent 10 years as Head of Press and PR at the South Bank Centre.

The Lawrence Batley Theatre has appointed Chris Robins, formerly a freelance arts manager and fundraiser and Senior Music Officer with Kirklees Cultural Services, to the post of Fundraising Manager. Chris Batstone, previously at Doncaster Community Arts (Darts), will become Head of Community Development, and Lesley Jackson has also left Darts to take up the maternity cover post of General Manager.

Hannah Chissick, previously Director in Residence at Derby Playhouse and Associate Director for the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, has joined Harrogate Theatre as Assistant Director. Steve Ansell is the Theatre?s new Director of HT², the youth, community and education programme.

Amanda Beckham has joined the Centre for the Children?s Book as Fundraiser (Trusts and Companies). She was most recently Donor Development Manager of the Yellow Brick Road Appeal for the Children?s Foundation.

Former Glamorgan and England cricket captain, Tony Lewis is to be the new Chairman of Welsh National Opera. He will take up his post in September following the departure of Geraint Talfan Davies, who now chairs the Arts Council of Wales.

Rob Tuffnell has joined Kettle?s Yard in Cambridge as Exhibitions Organiser, from Dundee Contemporary Art where he was Assistant Curator. Liz Haslemere has become Administrative Assistant.

Rachael Smith has joined Norwich Puppet Theatre as Marketing and Education Officer. June Hutton has retired as Administrator after 21 years with the organisation.

Theatres Programmer of The Lowry, David Fry has changed his role within the organisation to become Head of Theatres and Programming, and Louise Ormerod, who was previously Theatres Administrator, has taken over as Theatres Programmer.

Andrea Davidson has joined Independent Photography as Programme and Projects Development Co-ordinator.

Liz Wilson, formerly Executive Director at Living East, has joined Oldham Coliseum Theatre as Administrative Director.
