A web-based service has been launched by the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) to help its project-funded organisations monitor the success of their Social Inclusion Partnerships. The evaluation toolkit, developed by consultants Bonnar Keenlyside and designed by web designers Whitespace, will also provide SAC with better information on the impact of the arts on exclusion, and is intended to serve as a pilot for the evaluation of all SAC-funded projects. w: http://www.evaluationforall.org.uk

A new foundation to support the early careers of young musicians has made its first awards. The Borletti-Buitoni Trust will work in partnership with managers, concert promoters, broadcasters and recording companies to support chosen artists or ensembles over up to three years. Channel Theatre Company?s touring and outreach work has been re-named Chalkfoot Theatre Arts. The company aims to develop its small-scale touring work into new areas and types of venues, and is planning initiatives that include a mixed artform rural children?s theatre tour, a community film project and an Internet arts mentoring programme. t: 01843 280077

The Collect & Share programme, led by engage, the gallery education body, aims to gather examples of best practice in lifelong learning work with disadvantaged adults in museums and galleries across Europe. It will share this information and expertise through a searchable website, training, reports and conferences. A report, entitled ?Creating the Past? has been published by the National Museums of Scotland (NMS), documenting a social inclusion project that took place in the Royal Museum last summer. It describes the collaboration between the NMS and performance art company, Reckless Sleepers, working with young people who would not normally visit museums. The report assesses the successes and failures of the project and raises issues about breaking into new areas, trying to establish networks and challenging ways of working in museums. A directory is being compiled listing artists, organisations and resources for arts and social inclusion work across Edinburgh.
