A city-wide project attempting to get the entire population of Bristol reading Robert Louis Stevenson?s Treasure Island is taking place as part of Bristol?s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2008.
Penguin books has donated 8,000 copies of the book, and schools, libraries, businesses, book clubs and a prison will be taking part in a range of activities relating to it. To mark the event, Oscar winners Aardman Animations have created a special illustration of Wallace and Gromit as pirates on Treasure Island (pictured).
