?Faltered States?, a collaboration between poetry promoters Apples & Snakes and London?s Science Museum, will see four performance poets chart their reactions to the Museum?s Roehampton collection.
The collection, which is not open to the public, comprises objects designed to manipulate and modify the body, including prosthetic limbs, calf implants and Victorian back braces. The poets Mat Fraser, Ju90, Patience Agbabi and Rachel Pantechnicon will also be considering their own experiences of body modification to reflect on the changing way society has viewed the body over recent centuries. Digital artist Julie Newman will film their visit to the Collection and the resulting images will contribute to a two-part multi-media production with shows at Battersea Arts Centre and the Science Museum. w: http://www.applesandsnakes.org
