David Byers is to take up the post of Chief Executive of the Ulster Orchestra. David, who has been a long-serving member of the Orchestra's board, recently stepped down as Chief Producer, Music & Arts at the BBC.

Dr Marion North, Principal and Chief Executive of Laban Centre London since 1972, has announced her intention to retire in August 2003.


Rambert Dance Company has announced the appointment of Mark Baldwin (pictured) as the new Artistic Director of the company. Mark was a dancer with Rambert from 1983 to 1992 and has choreographed pieces for Phoenix Dance Company, Scottish Ballet, the Royal Ballet and London City Ballet as well as Rambert Dance Company.


The Courtauld Institute of Art has announced that Professor James Cuno (pictured), Professor of History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University, and Director of the Harvard University Art Museums, will take over from Professor Eric Fernie as its new Director.

Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has added to its new programming team under the leadership of Michael Lynas, Programming Director. Rachel Tackley, formerly Producer at Shared Experience, becomes deputy as Head of Programming with special responsibility for regional programming. Also new to the department are Matthew Gordon, Programming Associate, and Gordon Millar, Programming Assistant, who joins ATG from Theatre de Complicité.

Shams Rehman has taken up the position of Outreach Officer at the People?s History Museum in Manchester.

Jon Tucker, currently Acting Head of Operations at the Science Museum has taken over from Dr Roland Jackson as Head of Museum. Dr Jackson will take up the post of Chief Executive of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in September 2002.

Trinity College, London has appointed Keith Beniston, currently Director of Music at the Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, as Chief Examiner in Music and Nick Beach as Deputy Director,

Music, Dance, Drama and Speech. Asian theatre company The Big Picture Company has appointed Anna Gregg as Administrative Producer. She has previously worked at The Farnham Maltings, and with Adonais Ballet Company, Pimlico Opera and The Covent Garden Festival.
