A minute quantity of research would have avoided the misinformation about 'What Next?' contained in your piece. Arts Council England have been powerful supporters of this group from the word go. A senior ACE exec has participated in every meeting (at inconvenient times) over many months. The 'What Next?' group consists of the leaders of arts organisations of all sizes from across the country – museums, galleries, dance companies, theatres, orchestras, West End theatre companies, the British Council, management organisations... This is a remarkable achievement. New 'What Next?' groups are forming in other major centres round the UK. A conference will take place on 29th April at the Palace Theatre in London to which everyone interested in what the group aims to achieve - enhanced public engagement with the arts and culture - is welcome to attend.
