Andrew Dixon will step down as Chief Executive of Creative Scotland in January 2013, where he has run the organisation since its inception in 2010. Expressing disappointment that he failed to gain respect and support from some established voices in Scottish culture and acknowledging recent tensions between artists and the funding body, he said: “I have, however, also received much support and generosity of spirit from people in the arts and culture community across Scotland. I have been grateful for the tireless support of Fiona Hyslop and many others in Government.”

Chair of the Board Sir Sandy Crombie described him as having “taken every opportunity to be a vociferous champion and advocate for Scottish arts and culture.”

Dixon will leave in January 2013.
