The Royal National Theatre?s most traditional auditorium, the Lyttelton, is being transformed by a new seating arrangement, creating greater intimacy between actor and audience.
Starting this month and running until September, the new-style auditorium will be home to five contemporary pieces of work by leading theatre innovators. At the same time a wholly new 100-seat theatre, the Lyttelton Loft, is being created as a fully flexible space for eight new plays. The Transformation season has been developed in the National Theatre Studio, and ticket prices will be cheaper than normal, starting at £6.00 for under 25s.
