Seven visual arts spaces across Glasgow are collaborating for the first time in a major drive to build audiences for the visual arts.
RAW, the Real Art Weekend, will promote Scotland?s diverse range of contemporary art through a five day event from April 10?14. RAW aims to attract visitors to enjoy a weekend of events at Glasgow?s galleries, restaurants, clubs and retail outlets. The initiative has been created by seven visual arts organisations throughout the city - the Arches, CCA (Centre for Contemporary Arts), GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art), Glasgow Art Fair, Glasgow School of Art, The Lighthouse and Tramway. They are aiming to attract and develop audiences from as far afield as Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool. At the heart of the event is the 7th annual Glasgow Art Fair, the largest contemporary Art Fair in the UK outside London. The Fair, which brings together over 40 galleries from Scotland and across the UK, attracted record-breaking audiences of over 15,000 people last year and each gallery sold an average of 34 pieces, generating over £13,300 per gallery. t: 0141 552 6027 e: office@uzevents.com
