A new symphony orchestra is to be formed as part of Bristol?s bid to be named European Capital of Culture 2008.The West of England Philharmonic, to be run by members on a self-governing basis, will present around 50 events a year and provide members with around 50% of their income.
The orchestra, a successor to the Bristol Philharmonic, is to appoint a full-time manager and be based in Bristol.
