After 14 years as Artistic Director, Vicky Ireland (pictured) is to leave Polka Theatre at the end of the summer to devote more time to freelance writing, directing and international work.

Tamara Malcolm,Theatre Director and co-founder of The Theatre, Chipping Norton is to retire in May, 27 years after The Theatre first opened.

Rachael Thomas, currently Director of the Phoenix Arts Centre in Leicester has been appointed Head of Finance and Administration by Nottingham Playhouse.

Martin Wylde, previously a freelance director based in Lincolnshire, is to take over from Kevin Shaw as Artistic Director of Forest Forge Theatre Company.

The new Director of Vital Arts, the Barts & The London NHS Trust?s arts project, is Moira Sinclair, who leaves South Bedfordshire District Council after three years as Community Leisure Manager. She succeeds Jane Willis who has set up a Bristol-based arts and health consultancy. Catrin Jones also joins the Vital Arts team as Music and Performance Manager.

Rupert Goold is to be the new Artistic Director of Northampton Theatres. He has spent the last three years working as a freelance director.

Bath Festivals Trust has announced the appointment of Lucy Duran and Viram Jasani as World Music Consultants.

Louise Chantal, Marketing Manager for Soho Theatre Company for two years, is leaving to pursue a freelance career. She will be working on the re-branding of Midlands-based Pentabus Theatre.

Gianandrea Noseda (pictured) is to become Principal Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic in September 2002. He will replace Yan Pascal Tortelier, Principal Conductor since 1992, who is to become Conductor Laureate.

Kent Music School has appointed Graham Standley as Director, to succeed Michael Wearne, who retired last May.
