Jonathan Church?s first season as Artistic Director at Birmingham Repertory Theatre has seen attendances rise by 92% in comparison with the autumn/winter 2000 season.
92,000 people came to see a show - an increase of 45,000 on the previous year ? and the average seat capacity in the theatre?s Main House auditorium was 68%, up by 28% from 2000. Jonathan Church, who joined the Rep from Hampstead Theatre in May 2001, said ?the Autumn season provided a clear statement of our intentions for the future? this is just the first step in developing an audience that can sustain a vibrant home-produced programme in years to come?.
