A new four-year partnership between the University of Leeds and Opera North is aiming to enhance the creative and intellectual life of Leeds with a range of projects which would be beyond the reach of either party alone. Artists and students will explore new ways of working and performing, conferences will encourage debate and challenge traditional thinking, and students across a range of subjects and disciplines will be offered work placements and internships at Opera North.

Outreach work will take the collaboration into schools and into the city. One of the collaborations key projects is Resonance, which aims to make operas many elements - music, theatre, voice, scenography and the written word - more relevant to contemporary audiences. It will provide a forum for artists to research the potential of incorporating digital and multimedia technology into operatic production and lead to new commissions in music, image and performance.
