A schools science project has brought together professional musicians and scientists to create a piece of music that will be used as the wake-up call on the International Space Station.

Manchester Camerata musicians, scientists from Air Products, whose gases help launch space shuttles, and primary schools from Manchester and Nantwich, are taking part in the Manchester Metropolitan University Science and Engineering Week project, which will see the composition of new music by schoolchildren based on astrophysical data and visual images of space. Manchester Camerata has previously been awarded a Bravo! Award for its Science and Sound workshops with Air Products.
