News – Belfast cultural guide
The first of a series of guides to cultural activity available in Belfast has been launched as part of Belfast City Councils Cultural Tourism Strategy to encourage visitors to explore the citys burgeoning arts scene. The Art Guide, which will be distributed free of charge, includes information on public and private galleries and public art, as well as details of art workshops and classes.
Forthcoming guides will cover music, literary tourism, and a culture guide for the short-break market in the city. The Council has been working with the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau to develop the city as a European short-break and conference destination, and promoting contemporary artistic talent is a key part of its overall tourism strategy. There were 6.4 million visitor trips to Belfast last year, resulting in an estimated £285m boost to the citys economy.
