Plans are underway for Scottish Ballet to create a unique multi-arts production and presentation centre by building on an unused part of the Tramway site (pictured) in Glasgows inner city and by renovating sections of the existing building there. Funders, including the Scottish Arts Council, the Scottish Executive, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow and Glasgow City Council, have pledged a total of £7.5m towards the £11m project, and the company will sell its current home, a former army drill hall in the west end of Glasgow, to raise additional funds.

Designed by Malcolm Fraser Architects, the new premises will comprise three large rehearsal studios and health and fitness areas, as well as space for maintenance, preparation, and storage of sets and lighting equipment. The building will also support the wider dance community, with dance studios for independent dance groups and a dedicated education studio.
