A new data-sharing partnership between 24 Hour Museum and tourism agency VisitBritain means that the latest information on museum and gallery events will be incorporated into all of the 46 websites which make up the website http://www.visitbritain.com. The sites, which contain material in 26 languages, are visited each year by more than 15 million people from overseas, and received the Worlds Leading Tourism Authority Internet Site award for the third year in a row at the 2006 World Travel Awards.
The partnership is predicted to be especially valuable to smaller and medium-sized museums particularly those outside London that have limited resources to spend on promoting themselves to international audiences. Culture Minister, David Lammy, said, This partnership will also open the door to new collaborations. Sharing 24 Hour Museums editorial expertise in the museum sector with VisitBritains reach and profile should encourage a growing range of tourist-linked promotions for the future.
