A study designed to provide evidence of the economic and social returns generated by Blackpools Grand Theatre has concluded that, despite limited interest in the arts among the local community, the theatre has successfully addressed some of the traditional barriers to arts attendance and contributes positively to the image of the town.

The research, conducted by RGA Consulting, also reveals the significance of the tourism market. The Grand has an entry on its customer database for every postcode area in the UK, and generates at least 9,000 tourist visits to Blackpool each year. It was named 2006 National Theatre of Variety earlier this year.
