Four Local Authorities in Wales have been selected to undertake youth arts pilot projects on behalf of the Arts Council of Wales (ACW).
This is the first major initiative launched by the national Arts and Young People Task Force, a multi-agency partnership, set up by ACW to co-ordinate action plans across all agencies and providers who work with young people. Gwynedd, Merthyr, Newport and Ynys Mon will be developing local strategies to co-ordinate the delivery of youth arts activities in their regions, and ACW will make available £20,000 to each of them over the two-year period. During the first 18 months, focus will be on developing strategy. The final phase of the project, will document the methodology and working practice, and the four strategies will be disseminated to other local authorities at an all-Wales conference.
