Latin Americas largest cultural festival will play host to over 250 British artists this autumn. The Cervantino International Festival is staged in locations across Mexico each October. Every year, organisers give special recognition to a particular region of the world: recent years have featured Spain and Japan, and this year the focus will be on the UK.

Among the British artists who will be performing are the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Akram Khan Company, visual artist Willie Doherty, and milliner Dai Rees. Random Dance Company will be staging AtaXia (pictured), a new piece which incorporates neuroscience, composition, psychology, design and computer programming. The British Councils Mexico Director, Clive Bruton, said, Since the British Council was established in Mexico in 1943, this is the most ambitious partnership we have embarked on yet to enrich the vibrant artistic tradition of the region and to encourage cultural exchange between the UK and Mexico.
