The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) is embarking on two new audience development initiatives this autumn. For the first time, the orchestra is placing on its website samples of the music that will be played at forthcoming concerts. Many of the samples featured have been specially recorded for the website enabling audiences to gain a sense of what to expect from concerts. The orchestra is also opening its programming to young people, giving them the opportunity to pick the music for a special concert next spring.

Children are being invited to tell the CBSO about their favourite piece of classical music by the end of October. The most popular pieces will make up the programme for the concert which will be staged at Birminghams Symphony Hall in April 2007.
