In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the National Portrait Gallery, Royal Mail has issued a new set of first class stamps carrying portraits of ten of the UKs most celebrated figures, including TS Eliot (pictured), William Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf and Sir Joshua Reynolds.

The National Portrait Gallery issue is the last set of Royal Mail Special Stamps before Royal Mail introduces new postal rate scales next month, related to the size and thickness of letters and packets sent, as well as their weight. (For more details of the forthcoming postal changes, see p11.)
