London Calling Arts has commissioned Ipsos MORI to undertake a detailed exploration of the state of digital marketing within the UK cultural sector. The survey will seek to build a wider understanding of current usage of digital media within the arts as well as seeking to plot future trends as more wide-ranging digital solutions become more mainstream. Arts professionals can access the survey online until 27 June.

The South Bank Centre is inviting arts professionals to contribute their memories of the Royal Festival Hall (pictured) and the 1951 Festival of Britain to its living archive. The Love the Festival Hall project wants to hear from people whose memories reflect the Halls importance in their lives, whether as concert-goers, performers, staff or simply those who value such a space in the middle of London. Memories from last week are as welcome as those from the 1950s.

Rosemary Squire, co-founder and Executive Director of Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) and President of the Society of London Theatre, has won this years CBI Real Business First Women Award, in the Tourism and Leisure category. The awards recognise women who are trailblazers and glass ceiling breakers in business, and who help to remove barriers and open up opportunities for others to follow.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council is launching a new scheme to make research expertise more accessible to micro- and small enterprises, non-governmental organisations and not-for-profit groups. The scheme will support partnerships between universities and non-academic enterprise partners lasting between 3 and 15 months, and a recent graduate will be employed to work on an enterprise partners project with input from academic experts.

Sphinx Theatre Company has launched Brave New Roles, a biennial award for playwrights creating the best role for a woman in a new play. The winning playwright will be awarded £2,000 and the winning play will be performed as part of a showcase in November.

A new theatre venue is opening in South Yorkshire following a £1m Lottery award towards the redevelopment of a former Miners Welfare Hall. The 450-seat Dearne Playhouse will serve the community of Goldthorpe and the surrounding area and provide new performance opportunities for small-scale touring companies and local amateur companies.
A new brochure aiming to open up Londons theatres to people with sensory disabilities has been published as part of a £240,000 initiative being backed by the Mayor of London, which will target deaf and disabled people, as well as families with children. Access London Theatre lists all audio-described, captioned and sign language interpreted performances taking place during Summer 2006 at Londons theatres.

Cultural Enterprise, which provides support for the creative industries in Wales, will be cutting back its services due to a decrease in funding by the Welsh Assembly Government as a consequence of last years review that followed the publication of the Assemblys Creative Industries Strategy. The major effect will be the job losses amongst the mentoring team, though the organisation will provide information and advice services via its website, by phone and by email.
