News – ACNI looks to the future

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI) is inviting arts practitioners to attend region-wide public consultations in May and June to help shape a five-year strategic plan for the arts from 2006 to 2011, which is due to be published in September. A consultation document, Developing a New Regional Strategy for the Arts, highlights the new backdrop against which the strategy document is being prepared, including the major re-structuring of local government and a predicted squeeze on funding.
It lists four major themes that will be under discussion, including the challenge of developing audiences, and the role of ACNI itself.
