Bradford Council has appointed Paul Brookes as Campaign Director in the city?s efforts to become European Capital of Culture 2008. He was formerly Chief Executive of The Culture Company, and prior to this led the successful bid for Yorkshire to host the 1998 Year of Photography and Electronic Image.

Gallery Go, the Hampshire Arts Consortium, has appointed Sandra Adams as its Project Co-ordinator. Her previous roles include Company Manager of Barnstorm Kilkenny Theatre Arts and Administrator of the Tallaght Community Arts Centre.

Richard Wakely, Managing Director of The Abbey Theatre, Dublin, has announced that he is to leave the Theatre in early 2002 to pursue an independent career as a producer, presenter and consultant, in the international performing arts. He was formerly General Manager of Hampstead Theatre.

Kristy Jones is the new Media Relations Manager at the National History Museum. Kristy previously worked in PR, and she has worked at the Scitech Discovery Centre in West Perth, Australia.


Jo Beddows (pictured) has left Northern Arts after six and half years as Press and PR Officer, to pursue a freelance career in the North of England. Jo previously worked for the RSC?s touring department.

In November Chris Denton will leave the Royal Festival Hall to become Head of Corporate Marketing and Audience Development at the Barbican Centre. He has been with the South Bank Centre for five years, and was Head of Sales and Marketing for the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Following the departure of Sam Mason to The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, Blackfriars Arts Centre has appointed Jane Rice as Director. Jane joins Blackfriars from Northampton Theatres Trust.

Leicester Comedy Festival has appointed Geoff Rowe as its new Development Manager, to lead the organisation through its next stage of development. Geoff helped to found the Festival in 1993, as it grew from a part-time organisation into the biggest Festival of its kind in the UK.

Deborah Grubb, former Director of Arts Recreation and Tourism for Brighton and Hove, has been elected as the new Chair of the Board of Directors for the Gardner Arts Centre.

Michele Henshaw has joined the Manchester office of McCabes as Head of Creative Services. Meanwhile in the London office Kingsley Jayasekera will lead the new Client Services department.

John Baker has joined the ArtsLink Theatre, Camberley, as Marketing Manager. John leaves his post as Marketing Officer and Street Level Festival Co-ordinator at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury.

After three and a half years as Chief Executive for Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust, Dr Gordon Rintoul has been appointed as Director of the National Museums of Scotland.

Jo Broad has moved from her role as Acting Arts Service Manager at St Helens MBC to become Lifelong Learning Officer at East England Arts in Cambridge.
