Only 2.3% of London arts organisations employees are disabled, well below the 17% of disabled people of working age in the capital, according to new research.
The report, conducted by Shape for the Greater London Authority, found that organisations tended to view disability in physical terms and were less likely to consider issues of sensory or intellectual access. Just one-third of the 45 institutions surveyed provided disability equality training, while two-thirds had non-public areas which were only partially physically accessible.
