Collaboration between Northern Ballet Theatre (NBT), Leeds Metropolitan University (Leeds Met) and regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, has led to plans for a tour of China and will see NBT perform Verdis La Traviata (pictured) in Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou next month.

The support of Leeds Met, one of the largest universities in the UK, was facilitated by an Arts & Business New Partners award. China has become a key recruiting ground for universities since the introduction of tuition fees to UK students. Mark Skipper, Chief Executive of NBT said, Our strategic new partnership with Leeds Met goes beyond the bounds of conventional sponsorship and creates a deeper and stronger relationship between our organisations. Chinas growth and position as one of the leading nations in the global economy has led it to be cited as a key area for development of trade links by Leeds City Council.
