The official opening of the new Scottish Youth Theatre building has marked the establishment of the UK?s first purpose-built centre of excellence for theatre ?for and by? young people.

The former Old Sheriff Court Building in Glasgow is Scottish Youth Theatre?s first permanent home for 7 years. Established in 1977, the company (pictured) is Scotland?s largest provider of youth theatre arts activities for those aged 3 to 25, and operates collaboratively with organisations including the Citizens? Theatre and RSAMD in Glasgow, and the Festival & King?s Theatre in Edinburgh. Its new home includes five rehearsal rooms, a dance studio, a sensory room, a studio theatre, technical & wardrobe workshop spaces, offices, a conference room, foyer and open air courtyard with a performance space.
