Nicholas Hytner is to succeed Trevor Nunn as the Director of the Royal National Theatre, with effect from April 2003. Hytner was an Associate Director of the National Theatre from 1990 to 1997, and more recently was Visiting Professor of Theatre at Oxford University in 2000.

Chief Executive of Yorkshire Arts, Roger Lancaster,has announced that he is leaving to pursue a freelance career. He has led Yorkshire Arts for 17 years, recently on secondment to the English Regional Arts Boards, providing leadership and guidance for the regions on the proposed merger between the Arts Council of England and the Arts Boards. Andy Carver,currently acting Chief Executive, will remain in post until the dissolution of Yorkshire Arts for the merger, expected to take place next year.

William Norris is the new Marketing and Friends? Officer at the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has previously worked with Music at Oxford, The Warwick and Leamington Festival and The Voices Foundation.

Alina Hutchinson, formerly Project Coordinator with Cleveland Theatre Company, Darlington, has been appointed Marketing and Education Liaison Officer at Monster Productions. Jennie Sutton has been appointed Education Liaison and Development Officer with Cleveland Theatre Company.

Welsh College of Music and Drama has announced that Ron Reeves has joined as Front of House Manager. He was previously with Dacorum Pavilion Theatre, Hemel Hempstead. Odilon Marcenaro, formerly Studio Manager with the BBC World Service in London, has been appointed as Recording Studio Manager.

Annie Lloyd is the new Director of the Gallery and Studio Theatre at Leeds Metropolitan University. For the past 11 years she has been the Theatre Development Officer, and her new role will see her assume overall management.


Sir Michael Lyons (pictured) has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He will stand down from his role as Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council, and joins CBSO as it starts its new five-year strategy.

Cornerhouse, the specialist distributor and publisher of contemporary art and photography books, has appointed Paul Daniels as Head of Publications. He was previously Publications and Services Manager at The Textile Institute in Manchester.

Citymoves Dancespace, the dance agency for Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland, has appointed Jillian Thomson to the post of Dance Development Officer.

Lynne Williams, Artistic Director of Eastern Touring Agency for ten years, has announced that she will step down at the end of October 2001 to pursue artistic interests and arts consultancy work.
