EQ, the national equality and diversity agency for the creative industries, has appointed Jo Verrent (pictured) as Programme Director.

Helen White is the new Press Officer for the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle under Lyme.

Graham Long has joined the board of Visiting Arts. He is also Deputy Director General for the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, and was previously Director of Operations for English National Opera and Executive Director of Planning and Resources for Arts Council England.

Bimal Jheinga has been appointed Commercial Director of The Public, in preparation for the opening of its new £53m building in West Bromwich next year. He was formerly Head of Business Management at an Executive Agency of the Home Office.

Louisa Milburn, Education Manager at ViVA, has been appointed Director of the Richard Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts, based at the University of Leicester. A participant in the Clore fellowship programme over the past year, Louisa is succeeded at ViVA by Marianne Quintrell (pictured), who previously worked as a Project Manager for OSJ and Create.

The new Marketing Officer at Audiences Northern Ireland is Alice Jackson. She has previously worked for the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra and Young at Art. Chris Palmer has moved into the role of Research Officer.

Jan Shorrock is the new Marketing Manager and Maria Major is the Marketing/Press Officer at The Dukes in Lancaster.

Visible Fictions has announced the appointment of Cathy Hirschmann, formerly at Arts & Business Scotland, as Administrative Producer. Brenda Murphy is the new Education Officer. She previously worked as Project Coordinator for ARC Theatre Ensemble.

Pitzhanger Manor Gallery & House is now jointly managed by Carol Swords (Arts Programme Manager) and Helen Walker (Arts Planning Manager). Both previously worked at the venue as Exhibition and Events Programmer and Arts Strategy and Communications Co-ordinator respectively.

Screen South has announced the appointment of Jo Nolan as its new Chief Executive, taking over from Gina Fegan. Jo has been Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Regional Development and Production at Screen South for the past year.

Following the departure of Gemma Okell, Zoë Steadman-Milne has been appointed as Artistic Administrator at Bath Festivals Trust. She has worked for Bath Festivals as Office Administrator since 2003.

Jim Bennett has been named as Poet in Residence for the Port of Liverpool for the next two years. He will also work as Visiting Writer for New York Harbour in the USA.

Gwenno Jones has been seconded by the Arts Council of Wales to join Wales Arts International, its partnership with British Council Wales, as Information and Study Visits Co-ordinator.

Sarah Hughes has been appointed as Communications Officer for the Culture and Arts division at Queen?s University, which encompasses the Belfast Festival at Queen's, Queen?s Film Theatre and Naughton Gallery. She has been working in arts and entertainment publicity and event marketing since 1997 and recently helped co-ordinate The Playhouse?s successful campaign for BBC Restoration.

Brighton Photo Biennial has appointed Gilane Tawadros, previously Director of the Institute of International Visual Arts (inIVA), as Curator of its 2006 edition.

Design agency, D&AD has appointed Chris Thompson to replace Claire Fennelow as Education & Training Team Director.

Alexa Garner has joined Rural Arts Wiltshire as General Administrator.

Yen Yau (pictured) has joined the Lottery-funded First Light filmmaking initiative as Strategic Partnerships Manager. Prior to this she was the Professional Development Manager for Arts & Business in the West Midlands.

Alicia Miller, Head of Education and Public Events at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London, has joined Bristol Visual Arts Consortium as Project Manager.

Amy Elkins, previously Box Office Manager at The Oxford Playhouse, has joined Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company as Administrator.
