News – Abbey reprieve

Responsibility for Ireland?s troubled Abbey Theatre which recently discovered unaccounted losses in excess of e1m, is to be transferred from the existing Board and its Advisory Council to a successor Board, to be appointed under new governance arrangements.
The National Theatre Society Limited, the company which manages the Abbey, has been dissolved, to replaced by Abbey Theatre/Amharclann na Mainistreach, and the Arts Council has committed to working with the new Board to ensure the future stability of the theatre.
